Membership Information

Thank you for your interest in River Bend Gun Club (RBGC).

This page contains specific instructions intended to help you understand and comply with membership application requirements. A checklist at the bottom will help to ensure you have completed all of the requirements to have your membership approved as quickly as possible.

  1. All pages of the online application must be completed. Incomplete information or inaccurate information will delay processing and approval.

  2. Email Address: Please provide the email address at which you want to receive official RBGC email including member announcements, new letters, dues renewal notices, annual meeting notices, etc.

  3. Provide proof of current membership in designated national firearms rights or firearms shooting match sanctioning organizations as approved by the Board. A membership card or welcome letter which indicates current membership is acceptable as proof of membership.
Click here to see list of approved organizations.

  4. Sponsors: Applications must include the name, and phone number of two sponsors who are current RBGC members in good standing, who will confirm that they have personally seen you shoot and safely handle firearms. You must have two sponsors prior to completing and submitting your online application.

If you don’t know any current members, an effective way to meet members and obtain sponsors is to attend an RBGC match or other club-sponsored shooting activity. There are various events scheduled on most weekends which are listed on the RBGC website at www.rbgc.org. These events are open to non-members. From the home page, click on the “Events” link and then click on the listed events for more information about that event. Advance registration is seldom required and sign in for most matches opens at around 8:00 AM. When you arrive, introduce yourself to the Range Officer or Match Director and inform them that you are applying for membership and are seeking sponsors. Be certain that you obtain the name and telephone number of your sponsors for your membership application. For additional information about club matches (venues), contact the match Range Officer (RO) or Chief Range Officer (CRO) via email at CRO@RBGC.org.

  5. Carefully read the club pledge and releases on the application before electronically signing each.

  6. Your application must include a photocopy of your valid Georgia Weapons Carry License OR recent Georgia Criminal History Record which can usually be obtained from a Sheriff’s Office or Police Department (for more information, please refer to https://gbi.georgia.gov/obtaining-criminal-history-record-information). An online felon search is not a valid background check.

  7. Once your application has been submitted, our membership director will be notified and will begin processing your application. This process normally takes about 1 to 3 business days. Once your application processing is complete, the membership director will email you a reservation in the next New Member Orientation (NMO) with available seating.

All applicants must attend and successfully complete a New Member Orientation Class before their application will be considered. New Member Orientations are conducted monthly and are posted to the EVENTS calendar on the website.  The class starts promptly at 10:00 AM and concludes around 3:30PM.

New Member Orientation classes are held in the Gene Mowell Conference Center directly across from the Club Manager’s Office. A complimentary lunch will be served. The New Member Orientation consists of a introduction to the organization, a tour of the clubs ranges, and the rules by which those ranges are operated.. Applicants must successfully pass the Range Rules open book, written test at the conclusion of this class.

  8. Within 1-to-2 days of attending New Member Orientation, you will receive an email containing payment instructions. Once payment is received, temporary membership badges and gate cards will be mailed to you. You may begin using the RBGC facilities upon receipt of your temporary membership badge and gate card. Please wear your membership badge whenever on RBGC property. The Board of Directors will formally approve applications in the next monthly board meeting, upon approval your annual member badge will be mailed the following morning.

  9. Spouse Information: A spouse may receive a membership badge of their own after successfully completing the New Member Orientation and providing a copy of their valid Georgia Weapons Carry License OR a recent Georgia Criminal History Record. After receiving their spouse badge, the spouse may use the Club without the member accompanying them. There is no additional charge for a spouse badge for qualified spouses. The spouse’s GWCL or GCHR must be brought to the New Member Orientation Meeting, or attached to the membership application for a new membership applicant.

    Important:
There is a one-time initiation fee of $1,000 required. In addition, the annual membership dues of $360 are prorated and will be calculated at the time your application is processed. Annual membership dues will be prorated beginning with your first full calendar month of membership. The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Payment can be made online by credit card or by printing an invoice and submitting a personal check.  Note regarding membership payments: An additional processing fee of $12.00 is charged for all returned checks.

  10. The Membership Committee carefully reviews all new member applications before submitting them to the Board of Directors (BoD) for approval during monthly BoD meetings. The Club will send membership badges only after all requirements are met. If you have questions about completing or submitting your membership application, please direct your questions to the Assistant Club Manager at assistantclubmanager@rbgc.org  or call (770)893-2538.
